Is Simon Kenton the best team in NKY?

Lot of talk in the 6A thread from some of the NKY faithful about how much Simon Kenton has improved over the past few years and is poised to dethrone Trinity? Many NKY fans opine that this will be a close game and could go either way. Can/did this SK team compete with the perennial powers from NKY? Perhaps this is the best NKY 6A team since 1994. I haven't seen them play so thanks for the input.

Only team better in NKY is Highlands.

If SK is as good as everyone else claims, then yes they are the best NKY has to offer. Which is pretty dang good considering everyone in NKY has them beating Trinity.

#1 HHS (probably #3 in the state - did not play any of these teams)

#2 NCC (Beat BW 31-20, Beat SK 37-15)

IMHO, I'd put SK at the same level as those two right now. They're playing REALLY, REALLY, and this is the key word here IMPROVED football. SK's thumping by Boone really was a wake up call to them. I'd say Highlands is the best in NKY, but SK is certainly showing people that they no longer want to be a "basketball school" only.

I know some will argue the loss to NCC earlier this season(never said SK is better, but I'd say they're equal), but really, if you look at the way they've played since their first meeting with Boone, it's been a complete change.

I would not say that they are the most talented, because they're just not, but I would say that their heart and hard nosed approach to the game makes up for what they don't have in pure talent.

They are playing some really good ball at a perfect time, and have done everything they have had to do to get to this point, but they aren't "better" than a highlands or an NCC, but come to think of it they weren't better than Boone or Male, and many picked them to lose to Conner. Basically I don't think that's a fair question to ask of these kids. There is a few teams that are "better," but they have been good enough to make it to the state title game. That's not to shabby.

Highlands is still king in NKY. NCC beat us up in week one, I think if they played now it would be a very good contest. Beechwood also has to be mentioned, we haven't played them this decade but even when we were bad the two played some good games.

SK finished 4th in their district. They have caught fire at a good time, but they are not the best in NKY.

BGP has a ton of NKY posters and during playoff time most are going to pull for the locals. I just think all of the SK and NKY fans are pulling for them, nothing more.

I never said SK would beat Trinity!!!! To be honest with you, they are about to have a huge wake up call this Friday. This will definately be a measuring stick for Simon Kenton football.

Yeah, I think it's a collective "wishful thinking". Not to take anything from the Pioneers. I couldn't be more thrilled for them.
