Cindy Sheehan resigns as activist

Cindy Sheehan has announced that she will no longer be involved in politics, namely anti-war protests. Any thoughts?

I have lots of thoughts, but don't feel up to fighting the ridicule I'd get if I posted them.

First she blames our president, then lays it on the democrats. Finding no other scapegoats, she quits.

“We’ve accomplished as much here as we’re going to,” Sheehan told the AP.

What was that alienate our troops? Congratulations, mission accomplished.

The Joan of Ark gig didn't work out; so she's going for the martyr role.

"I'm going to go home for awhile to try and be normal"

I strongly disagreed with Ms. Sheehan's tactics and words, but I respected her beliefs (and as a parent tried to feel her pain as justification for her actions even though I disagreed with her).....however, based on her comments in the referenced article, I'm not sure I still have that respect. If what she said was accurately quoted, in my opinion she seemed to be saying that when the going got tough, she quit. I know that if I truly felt that my son had been killed in a senseless war and that I was so upset with the govt to stage the protests that she did, I sure as heck wouldn't quit and go home just because the Democrats had supposedly now turned on me too. Her comments now have me believing that she may have been into this more for the attention than anything else. What say some of the moms out there? If you were upset to the degree that Ms. Sheehan was and motivated to take the actions that she did, would you quit just because the Democrats now were insulting you or because you believed the Democrats had caved in?

She devoted an enormous chunk of her life destroying the memory of the great sacrifice her son made to his country. Pretty selfish of her IMO.

On this day after Memorial Day, I thank Mrs. Sheehan for the enormous sacrifice made by her son and all of her family. I hope I never know what she has gone through. I may not agree with some of what she says or the tactics she used, but as far as I'm concerned, her son earned her the right to say it any way she chooses. May God grant her peace.

This woman is tired and probably has never taken a breath of fresh air since her son's death. I don't like what she did, she took heavy criticism from BOTH sides, she is stepping back, my position would be that we need to accept that and get up off her back about it.

If she truly has departed the fray, to criticize her now is a bit like what Christopher Hitchens did after Falwell died.
