September 20, 200719 yr Before I proceed with humiliating myself, it should be publicly known that this is all Run to State's fault! We're down here in Florida this week, and trying out all the typical beach-side seafood places. Before we came down, Run to State (In his never-ending quest to corrupt me into his image) insisted that I try Alaskan king crab legs, for the first time. It's one of the few types of seafood I've never had -- frankly, they always scared me! I have a problem with any food that either: A. Requires proper training to eat B. Watches you while you consume it. Last night, we ate at a beach-side restaurant called "Sharky's." I strongly considered chickening out and just ordering the half-ton beach burger; but, with the thought of incurring the wrath of RTS in mind, I decided to give them a try. When they were placed before me, I felt like a walrus on a rocky beach, about to devour my kill. It reminded me of a pile of giant spiders, and I had no clue where to begin. Fortunately, our cute waitress took pity on me, and offered to crack the first appendage. After much cracking, digging, pinching, and butter dipping, I finished most of my monster crab legs. And they were actually pretty good! Way too much work though. On the way home, we stopped off at Wal-Mart to get a few necessities. Out of curiosity, I took a brief stroll through the seafood aisle. After examining the crab leg selection, I discovered that the restaurant had served me "stone" crab legs, and not "Alaskan king" crab legs. That disclosure was aggravating; but I got over it. We headed back to our condo. I buzzed around the grounds a few hours and then headed to bed. As I was about to hop into bed, I discovered that I had brought home an unintended souvenir from Sharky's. I had an entire (stone) crab leg riding on my foot! It had been proudly displayed there, through the restaurant...through Wal-Mart...and around the facilities here at the condo. And nobody noticed...or said a word if they did. I'm just dang lucky I didn't get arrested for shoplifting in the dagone Wal-Mart seafood aisle! :irked:
September 20, 200719 yr Let me get this straight. You had a great meal at a wonderful beachside restaurant. You enjoyed the meal and when you got home you discovered you had brought a snack with you. What's to be unhappy about? Also, why do you think Walmart would be more apt to properly label a type of crab meat as opposed to Sharkey's?
September 20, 200719 yr Author ...you discovered you had brought a snack with you. What's to be unhappy about?I couldn't get any meat out of it. Also, why do you think Walmart would be more apt to properly label a type of crab meat as opposed to Sharkey's? Well, the one's I had were smaller and flatter than the Alaskans. They looked a lot more like the stone crab legs. I'll take a picture of my souvenir, and let you all decide.

September 20, 200719 yr Hey BF, those type of crabs are called "Foot Crabs" and they are still good, with melted butter sauce but do require a FL transportation license, to carry around with you..... Here's my question, did you toss it away or eat it.
