UKs Recruiting Problem.

The problem with UK recruiting has nothing to do with getting the top recruits in the nation,but not getting the top Players in the state! Watching the Scott Co. game against the WV. Team made me realize thats what U.K. needs is Homegrown KY boys that Bleed Blue!!! That have the heart and Desire to be a wildcat...:ylsuper:

I know that U.K. needs to get some of the top players in the nation when they can but I am like you in that they also need to look more in state. Thes kids have passion for basketball and most of them have dreamed of playing for the Wildcats all their lives. Imo putting that "Kentucky" across their chest means more to one of these in state kids than others. Scott Co. showed tonight how Ky. kids stack up with the best in the nation.:thumb:

We don't need to recruit in-state kids for the sake of doing so. If they're good, and fit the system then recruit them. But for every Lofton there are 100's of JP Blevins' and Todd Tacketts.

How long have you been a UK Fan? The 50s,60s,70s,80s,90s-2000s?I know that you can get the best players in the Universe,but if there is no chemistry its a lost cause!Thats where the Home grown guys come in,they are the chemistry that make Basketball in the Bluegrass magic! We need to get the Pettigrew Kid,thats the kind of player the cats need!He is one that would come in and protect is Territory!

Hmmm no I dont think so. Ky boys would be great but we would be having 15 to 20 losses seasons with mostly UK boys against the schedule we play against. Think about how many ky boys have gone on to do anything lately at any big time program lately besides Lofton? That would be no one, we brought in players like Carrier, Stockton, Blevins, Tackett who were very good Ky boys and they did absolutely nothing in the blue and white. There has been alot to change since the unfortegable days, because basketball players are alot more athletic and just the style is completely different...

I know that there are some locals that we have had that didnt pan out,and that was just bad recruiting! The Kids from the bluegrass we need are the tough Kids,The Richer Farmers the Winston Bennett's.! I know there out there because it seen it with my own two eyes in Scott CO.!

I didnt say the entire team should be kids from Ky!I would take any kid from Ky over Sheray Thomas,and that other Perry Kid with no Name on the back of his jersey!
