Is it time for Dunner to get the treatment like Jr did?

Narron meets with him and says, you are our 1B. I expect you here an hour everyday to work on groundballs and the like.

 

We are stronger defensively with Hamilton in LF and stronger offensively with both Freel and Hamilton in the lineup everyday.

 

As Jr was told this was the move, Dunn should be given the same treatment.

 

Conine and Hopper become the backup OFers with Hatteburg becoming the LH pitch hitter missing now that Valentin is no longer as free to PH as well as the backup 1B.

If he becomes the first baseman and doesn't hurt us defensively, Hatteburg could be trade bait for a pitcher with some upside.

I have been thinking the same thing since the beginning of the season, man.

Will putting him at 1B make him hit?

 

dunn has one error on the year and a .989 FP.

 

The solution to the four outfielders is easy.

 

Freel sits, if you can ride Gonxalez while he's hot at lead off, do it, when he can't I really like Hamilton there. (for now)

What is upside for the Reds may not be so for another GM. A pitcher with an inning relief experience would be an improvement for the club.

That was last offseason, if you look at this year, with Zito and the like, they're not going that route any longer. Your examples are why.

What might be invaluable to another GM is probably of great value to Cincy right now. Hatteburg would be a great left hander off the pine for an American League contender (i.e. Doug Mentkeiwic)

Why is Dunn at 1B not a logical move? It helps by getting another RH bat in the lineup while not sitting your big 3 of LHers.

 

Off the top of my head you could have

 

Freel RH

Hamilton LH

Dunn or JR LH

Phillips RH

DUnn or Jr LH

E-5 RH

Gonzalez RH

Ross RH

Dunn isn't a logical move at 1B because he can't play the position. That's why the experiment didn't work last year and won't work in the future. Junior can move to RF because he can play the position. It's pretty simple...

It sure appears that way doesn't it? They've signed a big time pitcher every year for the last 5 or 6, UNTIL this year. And they were out there. It's not a coincidence.
