Play Station 3 vs. XBOX 360

I'm thinking of asking for a new game console for Christmas, and I was hoping to get some opinions on which one I should buy. From reading some online comparisons almost all of them favor the xbox at the present time because of the length of time it has been out and other various reasons. I value these reviews because they probably know more than I ever will on these kinds of subjects, but in my situation I'm also going to be taking into consideration the fact that I have a large number of PS2 games that I would like to keep and still play in the future (my roommate owns our current gaming console (PS2) and he will most likely be moving out after this year).

So tell me what you all think about the two consoles, and what you would want if you were in my situation.

I LOVE my Xbox 360! Its a great system IMO!

PS3, you'll be familiar with the controller layout, plus you can play all of the games you currently own.

Not to mention PS3 plays BluRay discs.

I'm not doing this just for the heck of it, I was just trying to see what you all thought would be the better system based on the information I provided in the first post of the thread.

True, I hear that there is a XBOX 720 that may be in the works...that would make the XBOX 360 outdated and Microsoft would stop making games for the 360.

PS3 is newer, and while there may be a few bugs or glitches with any new product, I think it's been on the market long enough for them to have worked those out.

The only real reason I see to getting an XBOX is to play Halo....which I don't find interesting at all anyways. It's just a modern-day Goldeneye, and I've got a N64 for that.

They have a pretty decent selection out right now, and after 1 more year, I think their game selection will be leaps and bounds above 360.

Doesn't mean they won't have a lot more games. Keep in mind 360 has been out longer...of course they have more games right now.

In the next year or so, I think PS3 will gain a lot of ground on XBOX in terms of game selection. If you aren't a fan of Halo then I'd go with PS3, especially based on the fact that you have games that you would like to play.
