Seems more people will know about them now.

NewCath by 21. DeSales played a poor schedule relative to NewCaths and only finished 5 - 5.

No, actually DeSales played a very tough schedule. They played up in class for several games. One can not judge a team purely by the schedule of which they play, if that were the case, the Prestonsburg would have beaten DeSales by 21 since they beat several teams that are still in the playoffs. The way I look at it is if Bardstown can beat Danville, then anyone can be beaten at any given time by the right team. No one gave Bardstown a chance, just as I am sure no one will give DeSales a chance.

Who did Prestonsburg beat that is still alive in the playoffs?

Sorry, guess I meant to imply as of prior to tonight's game.

Fair enough.

But who was DeSales toughest opponent? Fairdale? NewCath has played five teams that would probably be favored over Fairdale (Beechwood, Ryle, CovCath, Campbell, and Corbin) and went 4 - 1 against them.

DeSales is at home and fighting for a chance to play in the state finals, but this is a defending state champion they are playing. At the very least NewCath would have to be considered the favorite.

Here is DeSales schedule:

Nov 23, '07 Prestonsburg DuPont Manual 33 - 20 (W) Class 2A KHSAA Commonwealth Gridiron Bowl

Nov 30, '07 Newport Central Catholic DeSales / Prestonsburg winner hosts - Class 2A KHSAA Commonwealth Gridiron Bowl

The opponent is listed first, then the site of the game is second. Sorry for the confusion. DeSales home games were played at DuPont Manual.

Fair enough. No one would argue NCC being the favorite.

The Boys from the North have a pretty good record when they come to Louisville lately to play a football game. Let's keep that one quiet as well. What a way to spend a friday in Louisville at a NCC football game. That ride down I-71 gets me pumped, wonder what it will do for the Breds:jump:

I did get to be on the State Champs team for HHS in 1992. Every time I make that trip now I get jazzed up and immediately start thinking about football. I am sure that those boys who made the trip last year have that warm, tingly feeling in their bellies. I believe that they will use this game as a pre-emptive strike toward another title.
