Colerain, OH 33 Highlands 18

Excellent showing by the Birds--couldn't be prouder of them!!

An inexperienced Bluebird team took on one of the best in the nation (in just their second game of the season) and gave them a very good game. A few more breaks near the goalline and they might just have pulled off the upset.

WAY TO GO BIRDS!!!

Valiant effort but I dont think the Birds will see running backs like that the rest of the season. Congrats for playing hard til the End Birds.

Hate the result but sure would have liked to have seen Colerain's offense. Just not against the Birds. Hope any injuries are minor. I echo Bfans pride in the Birds!

Sounds like a pretty good showing for Highlands tonight.

Highlands battled hard, but the stop on 4th and 1 right before halftime was a killer. Colerain went right down the field and scored to end the half and then it was the Tyler Williams show in the 3rd. Just under 400 yards on the ground for Williams and Durham...

Not the blowout everyone expected. Sounds like the birds held thier own aginst the #1 team in the nation.

The Williams kid is just a Soph., right?

Yup. His quick and his fast had a baby tonight...

If you want to win these games, you must play flawlessly. That means TD on the 1st drive when you have 1st & Goal from the 5; TD after the interception provides a short field; 1st down at the end of the 1st half at Colerain's 30 yd. line with 3rd and 4th and 1; and TD after Colerain fumbles at the beginning of the 2d half. Didn't happen and there's no room for error when the other team is as good and deep as Colerain.

Last 2 TDs were our 1s against their 2s.

That said, Birds played well and improved from Week 1. Lots of good things to take out of this game and the experience will do them well. Hopefully, they will continue to do so as the season progresses toward the Pizza Box in December. We shall see.
