Who has the best fish fry?

Obviously there are too many to list on here for a poll to work, so just try listing your five favorites in the area you live.

My family's fish fry ventures take us around several areas of Greater Cincinnati, but our favorites are:

Knights Of Columbus - Father Kehoe Council, Ludlow, KY

This one's a personal favorite. The fish is pretty decent, although I wouldn't say it's anything particularly great either, but the towny, everybody smiles and says hello atmosphere is second to none. Good selection - they have three different kinds of fish and shrimp, and the line's never too long.

Mary Queen Of Heaven Parish, Erlanger, KY

I think this gets written up in the Cincinnati Enquirer's top 10 fish fries pretty much every year. It's won at least a couple of times. The line can be kind of long, but it moves along quickly compared to many. The fish is GREAT - all 4 kinds, and they offer shrimp as well.

Fort Wright Civic Club, Ft. Wright, KY

I like this one because we used to go to it all the time as a kid, seeing as it was within walking distance of my grandparents' house. I always see at least a dozen folks there who I've known for years, and there are always a bunch of kids running around on the baseball field. Very family friendly. They offer fried or baked fish and shrimp, and they have different organizations - Cub Scouts, youth baseball and football teams, etc. running the show each week. They split the earnings with them. Good people.

Cincinnati Kolping Society, Mt. Healthy, OH

This one's a little bit of a hike for dinner, but it's always worth it. They put on a heck of a production with games, raffles and live (German) music each week. Their fish is pretty top notch, and there's more than enough to do there for the evening.

Blessed Sacrament Parish, Fort Mitchell, KY

This is a kind of shameless plug, but my parents' parish does one fish fry every year benefiting their summer mission trip. My dad's been organizing this mission trip with the church for the last 7 years, and the fish fry is a HUGE fundraiser for things. We take as many families as possible down to St. Paul's parish in McKee, KY (Jackson County) and do what we can to help fix up the homes of the locals. The work we accomplish can be life-changing to some of the residents in McKee, and the experience is life-changing year after year for all of the volunteers. The fish fry is on Friday, March 12th this year, so if you're up in the NKY area, please stop by and share in the meal.

St Williams Catholic Church in London has a great fish fry. I get there nearly every Lent. Wish they had it more often!!!

Any of these in your area? When we go over to Georgetown, there's a little church just before you turn into the College that has a fish fry sign, but we're rarely there on Fridays.

I really don't know. If there are any, they are keeping it pretty well hidden from me. That's probably a good thing if it's AYCE. I'll have to look and see if Holy Family does it.

Most of the ones I listed are only on Fridays and only during Lent, although the Knights of Columbus has a monthly fish fry outside of Lent. I think they pretty much all work on specific prices and I don't know of any that do all-you-can eat. If anybody knows of an all-you-can-eat fish fry, though, let me know and I'll meet you there

A word to those who put on these events. If you happen to see a fellow that you don't recognize, wearing crocs no matter what the temperature, I STRONGLY advise you to just let him get his fill and keep your hands and feet away from his plate. Fair warning.
